Preserving time-honored techniques passed down through generations

Made with a blend of pure olive oil and laurel berry oil, Laurel Oil Soap has been revered for thousands of years for its natural cleansing and healing properties.

Ancient art of Laurel Oil Soap

Laurel Oil Soap is an ancient treasure with a history that stretches back over 1,400 years, originating in the city of Aleppo, Syria. Revered for its purity and natural healing properties, this soap has been found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs, suggesting its value even in antiquity. Legend has it that Queen Cleopatra herself used Laurel Oil Soap as part of her daily skincare ritual, contributing to her renowned beauty. Crafted from a blend of olive oil and laurel berry oil, this soap has been passed down through generations, preserving the same artisanal methods that have withstood the test of time.

Authentic Soap Master

Our family’s Soap Master, originally from the historic city of Aleppo, Syria, has been steeped in the art of crafting Laurel Oil Soap since 1925. With nearly a century of experience, they have perfected the traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. This deep-rooted expertise ensures that every bar of soap produced stays true to the authentic recipe. It’s not just a soap—it’s a continuation of an ancient heritage that connects us to a time-honored tradition of soap making. With each batch, our Soap Master draws on their knowledge and respect for the craft, adhering to the techniques that have stood the test of time.

Hand-crafted

Our Laurel Oil Soap is created by hand, using the same artisanal method of saponification that has been employed for centuries. This is the delicate process in which pure olive oil and laurel berry oil are carefully transformed into soap without the need for modern machinery or chemicals. By doing so, we preserve the natural color, scent, and full therapeutic properties of these oils, which have long been prized for their nourishing and healing qualities. The soap is entirely free from artificial preservatives, colorants, fragrances, or any other synthetic additives, ensuring a completely natural product that is as pure and effective as the oils used in its creation.

Hand-cut

The creation of Laurel Oil Soap is a labor of love, and every bar is hand-cut with meticulous care. This step is essential to its unique character. By removing machinery from the process, we ensure that the soap retains its handcrafted essence, creating individual bars that are not only distinct in appearance but also in quality. This method honors the cultural heritage of soap making, which has been passed down for generations, while also producing a product that is rich in nutrients. The hand-cut bars preserve the integrity of the soap's natural properties, making them gentle on the skin and enhancing their ability to deeply cleanse without stripping or irritating.

Hand-stamped

As part of our commitment to authenticity, every bar of Laurel Oil Soap is hand-stamped with a seal that marks it as a product of our traditional soap-making heritage. This stamp not only represents the quality of craftsmanship, but also guarantees that the soap has been made according to ancient techniques that have been passed down through the centuries. The seal serves as a symbol of trust, ensuring that each bar has been created with the utmost attention to detail and care, continuing a legacy that goes back over a thousand years.

Hand-cleaned

After the saponification process is complete—when the oils have been fully transformed into soap—each individual bar is carefully lifted and cleaned by hand. This important step removes any excess oil or residue from the soap’s surface, ensuring a smoother and more refined final product. Once cleaned, the bars are placed in special subterranean cellars where they are stored away from sunlight. These cool, ventilated cellars provide the ideal environment for the soap to continue its curing process, further enhancing its quality and durability.

Hand-stacked

The stacking of our Laurel Oil Soap is done with the same care and precision that goes into every other step of its creation. Each bar is expertly stacked to ensure maximum air exposure, which is essential for the drying process. This meticulous stacking technique is crucial to promoting proper airflow around each soap bar, allowing it to dry evenly and thoroughly. The traditional method of hand-stacking also facilitates the oxidation of the soap’s surface, which contributes to the development of its unique golden-brown color over time. With generations of knowledge passed down, our Soap Master ensures that each bar is carefully handled throughout the entire drying process.

Dry-aged

Our Laurel Oil Soap undergoes an extensive dry-aging process, lasting between 6 to 9 months, during which time the soap bars slowly cure and harden. This aging process allows the soap to develop a golden hue on the outside, while the interior retains a rich olive green color, a sign of its natural ingredients. Over this period, the soap’s surface oxidizes, which helps to lock in its nutrients and enhance its longevity. The dry-aging not only improves the soap's texture but also makes it more durable, resulting in bars that last far longer than mass-produced soaps. This slow, patient curing method is an integral part of the soap’s quality, producing a bar that is firmer, longer-lasting, and even more effective at cleansing.

The only soap you'll ever need.
